This position centers on maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles, equipment, and powered tools that support transportation operations. You will work with gasoline and diesel systems, perform inspections, and complete preventive maintenance to ensure safe and dependable performance. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine service tasks to keep vehicles and equipment in safe, reliable condition
- Mechanical Repair: Carry out repairs on cars, trucks, tractors, and construction equipment, including rollers, sweepers, and mixers
- Safety Inspections: Complete official state safety and emissions inspections and process all required documentation
- Field Service: Provide emergency road service and complete repairs in field environments when necessary
- Parts Replacement: Install replacement components such as pumps, gaskets, filters, and other mechanical parts
- Documentation: Maintain accurate equipment service records and assist with obtaining required parts and supplies
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work hours are subject to change based upon seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Travel, overtime, and shift work are required.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license or equivalent.
This position requires possession of a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Class 1 Certified Inspection Mechanic certificate.
