This position guides essential nursing care and helps maintain a supportive environment for residents in the Southeastern Veterans' Center. The focus is on providing safe and effective care while coordinating with the nursing team. As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties:

  • Resident Assessments: Conduct assessments, observe changes in condition, and document care in approved systems
  • Care Coordination: Develop care plans, coordinate implementation with staff, and revise plans based on resident response
  • Medication Oversight: Dispense medications, ensure proper administration by qualified personnel, and maintain accurate medication records
  • Team Communication: Relay important information to supervisors, participate in rounds and meetings, and support communication among staff, residents, and families
  • Quality and Safety: Conduct audits, follow regulatory standards, support QAPI efforts, and take corrective action on safety concerns
  • Leadership Support: Provide guidance to subordinates, teach procedures, evaluate performance, and assist with staffing needs

Work Hours and Additional Information:  
  • Part-time employment, 8hrs per day; 40hrs per week.
  • Positions are available on the following shifts
    • 2nd shift – 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM 
    • 3rd shift – 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • Rotating weekends and holidays.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 
  • Salary:  In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • DMVA is pleased to announce the launch of a Nursing Referral Program, promoting the hiring and retention of nursing staff at Pennsylvania’s veterans homes.  Under this program, both referring employees and referred candidates may be eligible for payments of up to $4,000.

QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Special Requirements: 
  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:     
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • If you are within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting.   At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • A conditional offer of employment may require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position comes under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
