In this position, you will play a key role in keeping structures, equipment, and facilities in safe working order for the traveling public. You will support the functioning of Bucks County Maintenance Organization through skilled repairs and maintenance. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Structural Maintenance: Perform repairs on bridges, culverts, and other roadway structures using carpentry, welding, and masonry skills
  • Equipment Operation: Operate construction tools and machines such as welders, saws, compressors, drills, and forklifts
  • Facility Upkeep: Carry out carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tasks to update and maintain buildings, offices, and fixtures
  • System Checks: Inspect and make minor adjustments to HVAC systems in maintenance sheds
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures, participate in training, and report unsafe conditions
  • Team Coordination: Guide semi-skilled workers and maintain communication with supervisors and coworkers

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work hours are subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
