This position focuses on creating strong visual designs and supporting the production of high-quality signage and artwork. As a Graphic Designer 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Design Production: Produce detailed artwork and signage using both digital tools and traditional methods
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with project partners to understand goals and create clear visual concepts
  • Equipment Operation: Operate specialized sign shop tools including printers, routers, and engraving equipment
  • Creative Development: Contribute ideas during project discussions and support the creation of new design approaches
  • File Management: Maintain organized artwork files and prepare accurate production-ready materials
  • Material Handling: Perform hands-on tasks with various substrates to build completed display graphics

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Essential Employee - Required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Graphic Designer 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of technical experience in creating graphic art for communication materials, displays, or exhibits and an associate degree in graphic design, graphic art, fine arts, visual communication, communication design, digital communication, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have experience with Adobe Illustrator.
  • You must have experience with Adobe Photoshop.
  • You must have experience with Adobe InDesign.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience with CorelDraw
  • Experience working with any of the following:
    • Vinyl Plotter
    • CNC Router
    • Flatbed Printer
    • Laser Printer
    • Framing 
    • Vinyl Applications
