eNGINE  is seeking a Cloud & Infrastructure Architect is responsible for designing and defining the technical architecture that supports a hybrid infrastructure strategy. This role owns landing zone design, disaster recovery planning, technical standards, and the long-term architectural vision for infrastructure across Azure cloud and on-premises data centers. This is a senior, hands-on technical role requiring someone who can independently design complex solutions, collaborate with engineering teams to prove concepts in live environments, and embed with application, data, and security teams to translate business requirements into scalable infrastructure architecture.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and owns Azure landing zone architecture, including subscription models, network topology, identity and access management (IAM), governance frameworks, and hybrid connectivity patterns (ExpressRoute, VPN, private endpoints). Inherits existing Azure infrastructure and drives re-architecture efforts to align with enterprise best practices, scalability requirements, and operational maturity goals.
  • Designs disaster recovery (DR) strategy for hybrid environments, including failover architecture, RPO/RTO targets, cross-region replication, and hybrid site recovery. Builds proof-of-concept environments to validate DR designs before production implementation.
  • Establishes and maintains technical standards across infrastructure, including naming conventions, tagging strategies, RBAC models, network segmentation, and security baselines. Collaborates with the Infrastructure & Cloud Manager, Support & Operations Manager, and technical leads to drive adoption.
  • Embeds with application, data, analytics, security, and DevOps teams to understand roadmaps, gather requirements, and design infrastructure solutions that support their growth and operational needs.
  • Translates business requirements into technical architecture, including capacity planning, performance optimization, cost modeling, and compliance alignment (HIPAA, SOC 2).
  • Creates comprehensive architecture documentation, including network diagrams, data flow diagrams, design decision records, and runbooks that enable the infrastructure team to execute builds.
  • Collaborates with Cloud Engineers, Infrastructure & Cloud Lead, and other technical staff to validate designs, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure architectural decisions are grounded in operational reality.
  • Partners with external vendors and consultants (Azure partners, colocation providers, network carriers) to evaluate solutions, review proposals, and ensure third-party designs align with internal standards.
  • Stays current on Azure platform updates, hybrid architecture patterns, and infrastructure tooling. Evaluates emerging technologies and makes recommendations on adoption.
  • Participates in architecture reviews, incident post-mortems, and change advisory boards to ensure infrastructure changes align with architectural standard
  • Participates in on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure architecture, with at least 5 years focused on Azure cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Proven experience designing Azure landing zones, hub-and-spoke topologies, and enterprise-scale governance frameworks.
  • Deep expertise in Azure networking, including ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway, Virtual WAN, private endpoints, NSGs, route tables, and hybrid DNS.
  • Strong background in disaster recovery design for hybrid environments, including Azure Site Recovery, cross-region failover, and on-premises DR strategies.
  • Experience defining technical standards and governance frameworks (naming, tagging, RBAC, security baselines) and driving adoption across engineering teams.
  • Ability to build proof-of-concept environments in Azure to validate architectural designs before production implementation.
  • Strong collaboration skills with a track record of embedding with cross-functional teams (application, data, security, DevOps) to gather requirements and design solutions.
  • Excellent documentation skills, including the ability to produce network diagrams, architecture decision records, and technical specifications that enable team execution.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) for deploying and managing Azure resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ITIL Foundation or higher certification.
  • Background in DevOps or Infrastructure as Code practices (Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or other cloud-native observability tools.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, and endpoint management platforms.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, M365 administration, and identity/access management.
