Are you ready to take on a role that keeps essential operations moving across the Commonwealth?  The Pennsylvania State Police are excited to welcome reliable Equipment Operator B to join the team and support statewide law enforcement by delivering important supplies and materials.  Your skills of the trade will help to ensure that every troop headquarters has what it needs to operate smoothly!


This position supports the transportation of supplies, operation of delivery equipment, and completion of logistical tasks for the Pennsylvania State Police.  You will help ensure that troop headquarters across the state remain stocked and equipped for daily operations.  As an Equipment Operator B, you will perform the following duties:


  • Truck Operation: Drive a medium weight straight truck to deliver supplies, clothing, firearms, and furniture to troop headquarters
  • Manual Handling: Load and unload materials for scheduled deliveries and incoming shipments
  • Equipment Use: Operate vans, forklifts, floor jacks, and related tools to move heavy items
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain mileage logs, equipment records, and service schedules for delivery vehicles
  • Compliance Knowledge: Follow state laws and guidelines related to vehicle weight limits and inspections
  • Additional Tasks: Perform related duties as assigned to support department needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • Work hours are flexible.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience or training.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with Air Brake restriction lifted.

Additional Requirements:

  • Hazmat Endorsement will be required after hire.
  • This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
