This position supports the safe and efficient operation of the boiler plant by maintaining equipment, monitoring systems, and directing inmate workers. The work ensures reliable facility operations and helps maintain a secure and well-functioning environment. As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will perform the following duties:
- Boiler Operation: Maintain boiler equipment, assess system performance, and complete routine and emergency tasks
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate and service pumps, fans, and other auxiliary systems used in plant operations
- Water Testing: Test boiler water chemistry, track chemical levels, and maintain accurate logs
- Plant Housekeeping: Clean work areas, organize supplies, and perform daily inventories
- Inmate Supervision: Oversee inmate work crews, monitor movement, and enforce tool and supply control
- Daily Documentation: Communicate with supervisors and complete required paperwork and inventory records

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
- Work schedule will be determined from the following shifts: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with rotating days off.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). However, a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
