This position supports the upkeep, safety, and protection of state forest land, facilities, and public areas. The work helps ensure that visitors can enjoy clean, safe, and well-maintained spaces. As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Facility Upkeep: Perform cleaning, repair, and maintenance on forest roads, trails, buildings, bridges, and other structures
- Boundary Care: Install markers, repaint boundary trees, and clear vegetation along state forest lines
- Visitor Safety: Create and install signs, place gates, remove litter, and reduce hazards on forest land
- Fire Support: Assist with fire suppression by clearing vegetation, patrolling fire lines, and operating portable pumps
- Building Maintenance: Repair plumbing fixtures, clear drains, replace bulbs, paint buildings, and maintain latrines
- Equipment Operation: Operate tractors and similar equipment to maintain campgrounds, forest roads, and trail areas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 6th, 2027.
- Work hours are Monday-Wednesday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM and Thursday 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
