This position maintains, repairs, and monitors HVAC and refrigeration systems across Fort Indiantown Gap to ensure safe and reliable operation. As an HVAC Refrigeration Technician, you will perform the following duties:
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled checks, cleaning, and calibration of HVAC systems and controls
- System Troubleshooting: Identify malfunctions, run diagnostics, and repair or replace faulty components
- Control Calibration: Adjust sensors, actuators, dampers, and valves to ensure proper system performance
- Electrical Tasks: Install wiring, determine electrical loads, and replace controls in accordance with safety codes
- Installation Support: Assist with installing heating, cooling, and gas-fired equipment and prepare required material lists
- Tool And Equipment Care: Operate HVAC tools and maintain them through cleaning, oiling, and minor repairs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- As an essential employee in this position, you may be required to work during emergencies or office closings.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the HVAC and Building Automation Technician trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, units, and equipment including one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls.
- You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- You must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment.
Additional Requirements:
- You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Willingness and ability to work in Fort Indiantown Gap, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania
- Formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a Refrigeration/HVAC or Temperature Control Technician trade
- Possession of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification
- Possession of an Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification
- Willingness to obtain Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification within six months of employment
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and/or wiring diagrams/schematics
- Experience making adjustments and repairs to the heating systems (steam, hot water, and gas) and refrigeration and freezer units (reach-in and walk-in)
- Experience installing refrigeration or HVAC systems, units, equipment, and peripheral devices
- Experience performing preventative maintenance on all related equipment
- Experience responding to emergencies by going onsite and troubleshooting problems
- Experience making adjustments online or in-person if necessary to maintain comfortable conditions
- Experience conducting building inspections to ensure adequate heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, and circulation in buildings
