Help Keep Pittsburgh’s Public Media Strong
Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting Corporation (PCBC), home to 90.5 WESA and 91.3 WYEP, is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and community-minded leader to serve as our Vice President of Engagement.
Reporting to the President & CEO and Senior Vice President and serving as a member of the Leadership Team, the Vice President of Engagement will lead an integrated approach to audience engagement and brand strategy, including marketing, communications, and external partnerships.
This role is responsible for strengthening how PCBC communicates who we are, growing and deepening our relationships with audiences, and building meaningful partnerships throughout the Pittsburgh region. Working collaboratively across the organization, the VP of Engagement will help ensure that our brand, communications, audience strategy, and community relationships work together to advance PCBC’s mission and reinforce its position as an essential public media resource.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Engagement: Brand & Brand Strategy
Own and steward PCBC’s brand strategy, positioning, voice, and identity. Create a clear and compelling narrative about who we are, what we provide for the community, and why our work matters. Use audience insights, market research, and performance data to inform strategy, align brand communications across the organization and strengthen its long-term position.
Public Engagement: Audience, Marketing & Communications
Lead strategies that grow PCBC’s visibility and reach, cultivate audience loyalty, and strengthen relationships with individuals across broadcast, streaming, digital, social, and live experiences. Oversee marketing, public relations, external communications, and audience-building campaigns.
Peer Engagement: Partnerships & Community
Build and strengthen strategic relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, civic and government entities, nonprofits, and other partners. Develop collaborative initiatives that expand PCBC’s visibility, increase its community impact, and connect our organization more deeply with the region we serve.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; an advanced degree is a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in brand strategy, marketing, communications, partnership development, or a related field, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in leading brand development, integrated marketing, communications, and engagement strategies, including digital and social platforms.
- Proven ability to build and develop high-performing teams, strategic partnerships, and inspire strong cross-functional relationships across an organization.
- Exceptional communication and strategic thinking skills, with experience using research, analytics, and performance data to guide decisions and measure results.
- Experience in public media, broadcasting, journalism, or a mission-driven nonprofit organization is preferred.
You are a strategic thinker and relationship builder who can see the big picture while remaining comfortable with hands-on execution. You know how to bring people together around a shared vision, build trust across teams, and turn strategy into action.
Most importantly, you believe in the role public media can play in creating an informed, connected, engaged community and are excited about helping PCBC deepen its relationship with the people and organizations of the Pittsburgh region.
