The Licensed Psychologist role with the Department of Human Services (DHS) at Clarks Summit State Hospital allows you to bring your expertise to a team that makes a real difference. You will support patients as they work toward greater stability and emotional health. Your assessments, insight, and teamwork help shape effective treatment plans across the hospital. This position focuses on providing psychological services, developing treatment plans, and supporting patient progress in an inpatient setting. The role requires clinical judgment, teamwork, and careful documentation across all treatment activities. As a Licensed Psychologist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Clinical Evaluation: Assess patient strengths and needs through interviews, history reviews, observations, and psychological testing
  • Diagnostic Assessment: Select, administer, and interpret psychological tests to diagnose conditions and guide treatment plans
  • Treatment Planning: Collaborate with staff to develop, update, and support individualized treatment plans and behavioral strategies
  • Therapeutic Services: Provide individual and group therapy sessions to support emotional and behavioral improvement
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in treatment team meetings, share recommendations, and discuss patient progress
  • Professional Contribution: Attend trainings, mentor staff when needed, and contribute to departmental initiatives and committees

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
