Park Maintenance Worker (Semi Skilled Laborer) - R.B. Winter State Park Complex

The Park Maintenance Worker position with the Department of Conservation & Natural Resources offers a chance to work outdoors while helping care for beautiful public spaces. This role lets you use a variety of hands-on skills to keep park facilities clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors. You will work with a supportive team that takes pride in maintaining the natural environment. This position supports the upkeep of park buildings, facilities, and natural areas by performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks. As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:

  • General Repairs: Complete routine maintenance tasks and assist skilled staff with more advanced repair work
  • Facility Care: Clean buildings, perform basic adjustments, and maintain equipment and natural resources
  • Building Maintenance: Paint surfaces, repair roofs and windows, and use hand and power tools for needed upkeep
  • Electrical Assistance: Replace bulbs and switches and support minor electrical maintenance activities
  • Construction Support: Mix cement, build forms, and assist with masonry and chinking tasks
  • Grounds Assistance: Help with carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and upkeep of signs and park structures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027. 
  • The standard schedule for this position is 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Wednesday to Sunday, with a 30-minute lunch period. Due to seasonal demands, work hours and assigned days may vary. Weekend and holiday shifts are required. The position works 37.5 hours per week over five days.
  • This position may require travel and overtime. 
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
