This position supports the processing, sorting, and delivery of mail and documents that keep the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) running efficiently.  As a Clerical Assistant 1, you will perform the following duties:


  • Mail Handling: Receive, open, sort, and batch incoming and outgoing mail for BMV and the Bureau of Driver Licensing (BDL)
  • Package Logging: Scan and log bulk packages into tracking systems using handheld devices
  • Document Prep: Flatten documents, remove staples, mend damaged pages, and prepare materials for processing
  • Work Delivery: Complete multiple daily trips to pick up and deliver mail throughout the facility
  • Customer Contact: Notify internal staff when packages arrive and coordinate proper routing
  • Batch Processing: Assemble applications, date-stamp materials, and place work in correct folders or bins

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
