The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking a hardworking, outdoor-driven Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 to help build, maintain, and enhance Pennsylvania's game lands and wildlife habitats. Int this role, you'll operate heavy equipment, construct and repair infrastructure, manage habitat projects, assist with prescribed fires, and work across forests, fields, and rugged terrain to support healthy ecosystems and public access. This position supports the upkeep and improvement of essential game land structures and outdoor areas. It involves hands-on work that contributes to safe, well-managed, and wildlife-friendly environments. As a Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Infrastructure Support: Assist with maintaining and repairing bridges, roads, gates, signs, and public ranges
  • Field Maintenance: Carry out mowing and general grounds tasks to keep game lands safe and accessible
  • Habitat Projects: Work on habitat management activities that improve conditions for wildlife
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside field staff to support ongoing conservation and maintenance efforts
  • Outdoor Work: Perform hands-on tasks in various weather conditions across Pennsylvania’s game lands

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Alternate Work Schedule may apply.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of laboring experience using construction tools and equipment; or
  • One year of farming experience using agricultural tools and equipment; or
  • One year of construction equipment operation experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
  • This position requires the selected candidate to obtain an active Class A Commercial Driver’s License within one year of employment in this job.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
