This role oversees inspection activities that support safe, accurate, and efficient transportation construction work. It guides field staff, ensures quality standards, and helps resolve issues in real time. As a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Inspection Oversight: Supervise project inspections to ensure work meets codes, plans, and specifications
  • Team Direction: Guide and train staff, assign tasks, and review completed work for accuracy
  • Field Coordination: Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and staff to resolve problems and plan operations
  • Technical Review: Make calculations, review sketches, and support solutions to field challenges
  • Documentation Management: Prepare required reports and maintain project records with accuracy
  • Staff Development: Plan training, evaluate performance, and support employee growth and discipline decisions

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position will cover projects in Lackawanna County.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position is required to meet the qualifications for a bridge inspection team leader as defined by the current National Bridge Inspection Standards.
  • This position requires possession of a valid non- commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
