The University of Pittsburgh, Ophthalmology Department is searching for a Research Laboratory Technologist II.  This position is through the Baranov lab, supported by grants.  We are a multidisciplinary group and combine the experience in cell therapy, transplantation, stem cell differentiation, retinal development, retinal cell biology, retinal electrophysiology, and small and large animal models of disease.

Due to the nature of the cell culture work the position requires flexible schedule and work on the weekends and holidays.

Qualification of candidate: BSc in Biology or related field, 1 year of related experience required.

Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.

 The responsibilities include design and execution of rigorous experiments in cell culture and microscopy, data analysis and presentation, reporting at the external and internal meetings. It is expected that Laboratory Research Technician II would be productive in supervised and independent work, as measured by publications and reports. 

Must be able to handle equipment and work in changing environment.
