Job Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced Deskside Support Technician to provide onsite and remote hands-and-feet support for IT equipment deployments, project cutovers, and go-live activities across US and Canada locations. The role requires significant travel and flexibility to support project schedules, including occasional weekend stays.
  • Deskside/Field Services experience in warehouse or distribution center environments rather than searching specifically for WMX resources.
  • Field Support Technician, Warehouse IT Support Technician, Deskside Support Engineer, Deployment Engineer, or Regional Field Services Engineer.
  • Experience supporting handheld scanners, warehouse printers, IT equipment deployments, go-live activities, and multi-site travel should be treated as primary screening criteria.
  • WMX knowledge can be considered a preferred skill and can be taught post-hire, whereas warehouse operations experience and extensive travel readiness are critical success factors.
  • The role also has a skill combination8 L2 Deskside, Warehouse Support, Printers, Handhelds, Deployment and high travel flexibility.
  • Ability to work onsite and remote, remote support will be guiding onsite techs and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and support IT equipment at customer locations.
  • Set up laptops and desktops and connect devices to the network.
  • Install, configure, test, and validate printers and peripheral devices.
  • Configure and troubleshoot handheld/mobile devices.
  • Provide L2 technical support during project cutover and go-live activities.
  • Maintain and update project tasks, documentation, status trackers, and deployment records.
  • Perform post-deployment, cutover, and go-live debriefs with project/team leads.
  • Collect and remove legacy/old IT equipment following deployment.
  • Palletize and prepare retired IT equipment for shipment.
  • Coordinate with local site contacts and the Client recycling vendor for equipment pickup and recycling.
  • Support warehouse-related activities, including equipment handling, inventory, staging, and preparation.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, site contacts, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Perform other onsite deployment and field-support activities as required.

Required Qualifications

  • L2-level technical support experience.
  • Experience with desktop/laptop deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with printer installation, configuration, and testing.
  • Experience supporting handheld/mobile devices.
  • Strong understanding of basic networking and device connectivity.
  • Warehouse / IT asset handling experience is required.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently at customer locations.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively across US and Canada.

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 50% 75% travel to customer/project sites.
  • Travel will generally occur during the business week.
  • Occasional weekend stays and flexible working days may be required to meet project schedules.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working at different customer locations as project requirements dictate.
