Fishing Boating Facilities Maintainer

The Fish and Boat Commission is looking for a dedicated Fishing Boating Facilities Maintainer who wants to make a real difference in the care of our hatchery and boating facilities. This position helps keep hatchery systems, equipment, and grounds in safe and working condition. As a Fishing Boating Facilities Maintainer, you will perform the following duties:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and repair pumps, generators, filters, and other hatchery tools
  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Operate and service backhoes, loaders, forklifts, and similar machinery
  • Vendor Coordination: Work with hatchery staff and outside vendors to complete maintenance tasks
  • Grounds Upkeep: Cut grass, plow snow, and maintain roads, sidewalks, and parking areas
  • Building and Structure Repair: Repair doors, windows, roofs, fences, ponds, raceways, and related structures
  • Safety and Supplies: Use safety equipment properly and manage parts purchasing through state systems

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Permanent full-time employment

  • Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch, from November until March. (37.5 hours)

  • Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) will be in effect from March through November. Working hours will be 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday - Wednesday, with a 30-minute lunch, 10 hour days, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM Thursday (7.5 hours), off Friday. (Total weekly hours also 37.5 hours)
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience operating commercial or industrial-use wheeled or tracked motor vehicles used in groundskeeping, outdoor construction work, agriculture, mining, or forestry work; or

  • Two years of semi-skilled work experience in commercial building or plant maintenance and repair work; or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements: 
  • All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a valid PA Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
