Position Overview

The Hear Foundation is seeking a Development Associate to be responsible for The Hear Foundation’s fundraising activities, including major gifts, annual impact reports and appeals, corporate sponsorships and special events.

The Development Associate serves as a primary point of contact. This position works closely with the President & CEO, the Director of Operations, and the Knowledge and Information Manager, as well as the Development Committee of the Board of Directors. This team-oriented position also involves working with contracted team members on communications and all grant writing endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works with diverse audiences to deliver on the mission and identify opportunities for the Foundation to participate, invest, or lead activities and initiatives with multiple funding partners and corporate leaders.
  • Develops meaningful, authentic, and trusting working relationships locally and nationally with mission aligned individuals, agencies and organizations through on-going research, outreach and engagement efforts.
  • Collaborates with the President & CEO to create and implement annual strategic plans to increase the overall diversified revenue stream for programming and operating funds.
  • Collaborates with the President & CEO to identify and cultivate relationships with individual donor prospects and their financial advisors to solicit major gifts.
  • Designs and directs donor stewardship and cultivation events and fundraising strategies to support these events.
  • Works closely with the Director of Operations to ensure timely and accurate financial transactions and gift instruments for donors, assuring donor designation in grant distribution.
  • Develops and implements a tracking procedure to track proposals, grants, and reporting to ensure timely deliverables.
  • Works closely with the President & CEO and other staff in the development and implementation of organization-wide budgets, policies, and programs that will contribute to the organization’s success.
  • Designs, creates, and distributes annual appeal and the annual impact report.
  • Co-designs and creates multiple annual campaign solicitation strategies including print and electronic media, for the communications contractor.
  • Attends all staff meetings and communications meetings.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years’ fundraising experience with demonstrated success in securing annual funding, sponsorships and individual donor cultivation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field from an accredited college or university highly recommended.
  • Experience working with corporate leaders, philanthropists, community volunteers and Board committee members.
  • Donor management experience in a formal CRM system.
  • Experience managing fundraising budgets.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and reporting skills.

Requirements

  • Ability to attend evening and weekend activities as needed.
  • Ability to travel locally for funder and partner meetings as well as industry related seminars and conferences.
