  • EDUCATION/TRAINING: Must be currently enrolled and taking classes in an accredited law school or have graduated with a law degree.
  • EQUIVALENCY: None permitted for this position.

You must pass the written and/or performance examination(s) to have your name placed on the official Civil Service eligibility list for this position. Candidates receiving job offers must pass a medical examination (when applicable) before the date of hire.

  • Conducts simple to moderately complex legal research in connection with advisory and enforcement cases assigned. 
  • Analyzes and makes judgments about assigned cases; interprets existing laws and regulations. 
  • Informs supervisor of results of legal research. 
  • Meets with City personnel, officials, and state and/or federal agencies on assigned legal research assignments. 
  • Drafts rules, regulations, policies and procedures to be proposed or implemented by City Departments; monitors full implementation of approved rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Prepares accurate reports, records, correspondence, etc. 
  • Creates ethics handbook and training materials for City employees, officials, candidates, vendors, and others subject to the Ethics Hearing Board’s jurisdiction.
  • Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned or required.
