This position supports the County Maintenance Manager by planning, overseeing, and evaluating maintenance activities throughout the assigned region. As an Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager, you will perform the following duties:
- Work Planning: Prepare schedules, estimates, and work plans to guide maintenance activities
- Operational Oversight: Review and adjust scheduled work based on conditions, reports, and resource availability
- Quality Inspection: Inspect work sites to confirm adherence to standards, practices, and project intentions
- Crew Development: Ensure foremen receive training and support needed for independent and effective supervision
- Safety Management: Monitor work zones and promote safe procedures for crews and the public
- Program Coordination: Oversee reports, evaluations, and administrative tasks that support maintenance operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS), upon successful completion of probationary period.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1 (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment used in highway construction projects; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
