General Requirements:

- Applicants must submit a complete application, including education, work experience, a resume (if applicable), and completed supplemental questions.
- A current, valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License (or out-of-state equivalent) is required prior to appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Applicants must become residents of the City of Pittsburgh prior to employment and remain residents throughout employment.

Qualifying Requirements:
Your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will receive notice of your eligibility status via email.
WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show one (1) year of full-time experience of relevant administrative experience and/or police property and evidence experience. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field. (See NOTE under General Application Requirements regarding education/training verification.)
- EQUIVALENCY: Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above). The Total Qualifying Requirement is three (3) years. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training).

- Receives and documents property and evidence from officers, detectives, and other sources.
- Safely stores and organizes property and evidence in a secure and organized manner.
- Conducts regular inventory of evidence room and property.
- Maintains accurate and detailed records of the chain of custody, ensuring the integrity of evidence.
- Maintains procedures for the custody and handling of evidence.
- Tracks statute of limitations and legal time frames.
- Checks for compliance with regulations, processes evidence for transfer to crime laboratories for testing and to prosecutors for court cases.
- Maintains confidentiality of City records and/or confidential discussions pertaining to City records.
- Assists individuals inquiring about property or evidence.
- Assesses evidence for disposition, whether it should be returned to the owner, destroyed, or disposed of according to legal requirements.
- Exemplifies the Bureau rules and regulations, both on and off duty.
- Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned or required.
