Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting Corporation (PCBC), home of WESA and WYEP, is looking for an Staff Accountant to join our team and help ensure the financial accuracy, integrity and efficiency that allow our stations to do their best work for the community.
This is a hands-on accounting position for someone who enjoys keeping things organized, getting the details right, and taking ownership of the day-to-day financial processes that keep an organization running smoothly.
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance, the Staff Accountant will manage core accounting activities including accounts payable and receivable, transaction processing, reconciliations, and general ledger entries while supporting month-end close, audits, grant reporting, budgeting and other financial projects.
This position is primarily based in our Pittsburgh office, with flexibility for remote work when job responsibilities and organization needs allow.
What You'll Do
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately and on time.
- Record cash receipts, deposits, and other financial transactions.
- Assist with bank and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Assist the Vice President of Finance with month-end and year-end close.
- Prepare schedules, reports, and documentation for financial reporting.
- Support the annual audit by preparing requested documentation and responding to auditor requests.
- Assist with 1099 preparation and other required financial filings.
- Help maintain compliance with established accounting policies, internal controls, and GAAP.
- Gather historical financial information to support annual budgeting.
- Assist with grant budgets, financial tracking, and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to make accounting processes more organized, accurate, and efficient.
We're looking for someone who understands accounting fundamentals, takes pride in accurate work, and can reliably own recurring financial processes.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Quickbooks or similar accounting software.
Experience with nonprofit accounting, grant-funded organizations, and audits are a plus but not required.
An associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant accounting experience will also be considered. Work Environment
This position is based in our Pittsburgh office. Standard business hours are 9:00-5:00 Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend work to support organizational events and Board meetings.

We provide competitive salaries in an affordable city. The minimum compensation for this position is $55,000, commensurate with experience and ability. Our full-time exempt employees also get access to an extensive benefits package, including a 403(b) retirement plan with 6% company match, medical, dental and vision, three weeks of vacation, sick time, 10 company holidays and 12 weeks of paid new parent leave.
