This position focuses on preparing meals, delivering food service, and maintaining sanitary dining and kitchen areas within a veteran home. The role supports daily meal operations and ensures residents receive safe and accurate food service. As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Food Preparation: Prepare and portion food items, beverages, and snacks while following established instructions
- Tray Assembly: Set up carts, read diet codes, and assemble trays to match individual dietary needs
- Meal Delivery: Transport and deliver resident trays and maintain accuracy of special orders
- Sanitation Tasks: Clean dishes, equipment, furniture, and food service areas to maintain safe conditions
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety rules, use protective equipment, and report hazards or injuries
- Record Keeping: Document inventory use, temperatures, and meal counts as required

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hour
- Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Willingness to work in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania
- Willingness to work full-time from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM with rotating days and weekends
- Previous food service worker experience
- Food service experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, hospital, restaurant, or other food service operation
- Work experience interacting with patients, residents, or customers while serving food/cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room setting
- Work experience with food safety and sanitation in a dietary department
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
