The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Gino Merli Veterans' Center is looking for an independent, responsible candidate to fill our Clerical Assistant 2 position at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton, PA. We are a long-term care facility serving our veterans and their spouses.

As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Billing Support: Manage Medicare and Medicaid billing for residents and third parties
- Payment Processing: Record and track payments from residents, families, and external programs
- Data Entry: Enter and review information in spreadsheets, presentations, and tracking tools
- Department Assistance: Work with the Revenue Department to complete daily census and maintain accurate records
- Confidentiality: Handle sensitive financial information with care and independence

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831.00 (before taxes).

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Completion of 8th grade curriculum or higher.
- Previous experience in clerical tasks.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Previous experience in handling check deposits.
- Previous experience using SAP or wiring funds.
- Previous experience working with medical billing and insurance processes.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
