This position helps manage incoming and outgoing mail by sorting, opening, organizing, and preparing materials for delivery.  As a Clerical Assistant 1, you will perform the following duties:


  • Mail Receipt: Receive mail from the post office, including certified and registered items
  • Sorting Work: Separate Bureau of Motor Vehicle (BMV) and Bureau of Driver Licensing (BDL) work and place items in correct bins for delivery
  • Document Handling: Open, mend, scan, and log envelopes and bulk packages using required tools
  • Machine Use: Operate mail slitter equipment and keep it properly cleaned
  • Package Processing: Scan bulk packages with handheld devices and upload information into the WTS System
  • Daily Delivery: Make scheduled trips to pick up and deliver mail across assigned areas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
