As an Air Monitoring Equipment Specialist for the Department of Environmental Protection, you will help monitor and maintain equipment that tracks air quality across Pennsylvania. This position focuses on maintaining, repairing, and calibrating air monitoring equipment used to measure environmental conditions across the Commonwealth. The role ensures reliable data collection by performing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and supporting field operations. As an Air Monitoring Equipment Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Scheduled Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance at monitoring stations to prevent equipment malfunctions
- Instrument Checks: Review precision checks for analyzers and troubleshoot issues when readings fall outside acceptable limits
- Equipment Calibration: Calibrate air monitoring instruments using approved methods and document results accurately
- Corrective Actions: Analyze symptoms and parameters to identify and repair malfunctions in sensors and support equipment
- Sampler Management: Maintain PM2.5 and other sampler systems by changing filters, preparing documentation, and completing required verifications
- Field Operations: Travel to monitoring sites, maintain vehicle supplies, and use smartphones and computers for documentation tasks

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Some travel required
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,827 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of technical experience testing and repairing electronic or electrical equipment; or
- An associate degree in electronics, electrical engineering technology, information sciences and technology, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
