The WISER Systems Specialist, Associate will provide day to day support for the UPMC WISER Center and affiliates. This support could include hardware, application, and data communications troubleshooting. The position will be required to travel within a radius of 40 miles to other UPMC facilities as needed. When working at the Oakland Campuses, the individual will need to be able to walk within a half mile radius to assist at UPMC Campuses.

This position will work onsite in Oakland and require occasional travel as needed to our satellite WISER campuses. The role will work Monday through Friday during standard daylight hours.  The role will require onsite parking which is at the employee's expense. Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on care and maintenance of simulation technology.
  • Provide hands-on care and maintenance of specialized AV equipment and infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support for simulation specialists, faculty, and other staff.
  • Create and support Power Platform tools to support WISER and it’s 20 satellite centers.
  • Must have own transportation to support all WISER satellite centers.
  • Must be adaptable and quick thinking to support the changing needs of faculty and students.
  • Actively participate in technical mentorship by intermediate and senior level team members.
  • Document request status and resolution activities, as directed. Follow procedures for documentation of PC Support services to the UPMC end user community. 
  • Update all project management and time tracking tools accordingly.
  • Ability to manage time, tickets, and workload under the direction of leadership.
  • Demonstrates appropriate, clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications.
  • Responsible for demonstrating appropriate, clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications in all interactions to build relationships and accomplish day to day work and projects.
  • Successfully completes projects, tasks, and initiatives by embracing a team-first approach. Works in collaboration with team and offers feedback, where appropriate, to complete individual and group efforts.
  • Shows the ability to adjust and be flexible to change by adapting approach when necessary.
  • Responsible for continuous self-study, trainings, partnering with more senior members of team, and/or seeking out opportunities to broaden scope to stay up to date with industry and organizational trends. 
  • Seeks feedback from senior team members for development and effectively incorporates feedback into work and behaviors.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience with desktop support and desktop support practices through education or practical experience.
  • Must be willing and able to report for work at various UPMC facilities.
  • Experience with scripting for automation (Power BI and Python) preferred.
  • Experience with translating technical concepts for non technical users preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic/standard IT procedures and protocols.
  • Rely on buddy system/coach to demonstrate applied skills and to guide non-routine actions.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk up and down hills, to reach the various end user sites at UPMC.
  • Additionally, this position may be required to maintain a stand by status as part of a rotation within the team.
  • The frequency varies based upon the number of colleagues in the rotation.
