As a Nurse Aide with the Department of Corrections, you will help deliver daily support to inmates with individualized care needs at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Laurel Highlands. This position supports individualized care plans for inmates by assisting with daily health and personal care needs. You will complete assigned tasks under the supervision of licensed healthcare staff and help maintain a safe, organized environment. As a Nurse Aide - SCI Laurel Highlands, you will perform the following duties:
- Vital Sign Monitoring: Check and record vital signs, height, and weight
- Specimen Collection: Collect urine, feces, and sputum specimens and report observations
- Personal Care Support: Assist inmates with hygiene tasks, meal needs, and mobility
- Safety and Comfort: Provide positioning, transfer assistance, and skin care while observing for concerns
- Communication Duties: Share essential information with healthcare and custody staff during routine and emergency situations
- Record Maintenance: Retrieve, record, and file information in the electronic health record

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 8-hour shifts include: 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM), with rotating days off and a 30-minute lunch.
- Work schedules are to be determined at the time of hire.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
- Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
Special Requirement:
- This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
