UPMC is seeking a Casual Director, Clinical Analytics to support Hatch, an innovation-focused initiative within Women's Health. This flexible, primarily remote role will provide analytical expertise to support initiatives that improve patient outcomes, optimize care delivery, and accelerate innovation in virtual care, population health, and patient engagement.
The Director, Clinical Analytics will collaborate with clinical, operational, and innovation leaders to identify opportunities for data-driven decision-making, evaluate program performance, and develop actionable insights that advance Women's Health initiatives. This role will play a key part in supporting Hatch's mission of coordinating, integrating, and accelerating innovative approaches that leverage the full capabilities of UPMC to improve health outcomes for patients and the community.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with subject matter experts in Finance, Operations, Clinical, Quality/Safety, and other areas to develop analyses and recommendations.
- Support development of training / mentoring curriculum that teaches varying levels of analysts how to effectively analyze and present recommendations and demonstrate value.
- Manage special projects.
- Develop standard analytical reports for internal use and presentation to external customers to support analysis and recommendations.
- Identify trends, investigate variances, and derive solutions to the measurement of healthcare delivery.
- Serve as the entry point of data requests related to clinical data. Will be the linkage to other areas of the organization to perform holistic analyses that would include trends, patterns, outcomes, cost, etc. across all specialties.Continually identify areas of resource opportunity and harmonize duplicative efforts throughout the clinical areas.
- Lead the analysis of clinical, operational, and financial data for all facets of the Health Services Division resulting in recommendations that improve performance and demonstrate value.
- Implement and monitor effectiveness of analysis and recommendations.
- Support Health Services Division through timely and responsive research and analysis.
- Monitor provider division operating performance against regional, national and international benchmarks.
- Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistics, healthcare, management or related field required;
- Master's degree in these same areas preferred.
- Minimum of five years experience in healthcare (financial/medical/marketing) analysis required.
- Superior computer skills with financial & statistical software packages.
- Strong prioritization and project management skills as well as in-depth healthcare business knowledgecombined with thorough understanding of analysis and presentation, underlying business processes and the ability to assess how process changes impact organizational performance
- Ability to proactively prioritize time-sensitive requests for information with finite resource.
- Ability to negotiate effectively with other departments / divisions for knowledge transfer, influence and coach decision makers vis a vis best approaches, interpret results and advise internal customers on underlying trends / potential causes as well as recommended course of action.
- Person must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm and initiative on a daily basis
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment a must.
- Attention to detail is critical to the success of this position, with demonstrated competency in customer orientation and the ability to deal with ambiguity
