POSITION SUMMARY

The Residential Director is responsible for the oversight of the implementation and functioning of the residential department of Arc, Fayette. The Residential Director serves as an organizational leader, and ensures that the Residential Department provides care and supervision in a manner that reflects the agency mission, vision, best practice, and meets/exceeds regulatory requirements. The Residential Director supervises the Program Specialist(s), Supervisors and bears ultimate responsibility for all employees within the Residential Department.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Leadership and direction will be provided to staff in order to fulfill the mission and vision of the agency while ensuring the health and safety of the individual’s for whom we provide services.

  • Review and interpret regulations to ensure compliance through policy and procedure development and employee training, specifically 55 Pa. Code Chapter 6100 and 6400. 
  • Ensure policies, procedures, departmental planning and all aspects of Arc, Fayette’s Residential Program reflects Person-Centered practices.
  • Responsible for providing mentoring, training and professional development opportunities for direct reports ensuring professional 24 hour coverage.
  • Direct, support, supervise and evaluate Residential Supervisors, and Specialists.
  • Provides direct support in a backup role when necessary. Will be required to provide direct support in Community Homes during staffing shortages. Will be required to function as a program supervisor or specialist during staff vacancies.
  • Assure that programs and services operate at the highest level of excellence and align with best practices in the industry.
  • Oversee admissions and referrals coordinating with the Executive Director.
  • Develop and update policies and procedures for the Residential Department.
  • Ensure that all regulatory documentation is current, accurate, and compliant.
  • Ensure documentation submitted by the organization to outside entities (AE’s, SC’s, etc) related to the people we serve is respectfully and professionally presented and congruent with our agency mission and values
  • Develop skills, coach and communicate individually to clarify job responsibilities, program purposes, philosophy and goals to staff.
  • Communicate with management to offer support in regards to client issues, personnel matters, and programmatic need.
  • Assist with the Quality Assessment and Improvement (QA&I), licensing, and audit process through policy interpretation, process/training development, and corrective action plans and continued improvement processes. 
  • Completes Quality Management (QM) training and serves as a member of the QM leadership team
  • Review, distribute, and train program management staff on updated regulations, ODP Bulletins, and county standards.
  • Identify opportunities for program and service expansion and coordinate efforts to meet strategic business goals and objectives.
  • Monitors operational costs, i.e. overtime and staffing.
  • Visits homes on a no less than a monthly basis.
  • Provides direct support when necessary.
  • Follow agency Incident Management and Abuse Policy of reporting all incidents within 24 hours, ensuring the health safety and welfare of program participants and participating in agency investigations.
  • Upholds and model Arc, Fayette’s Code of Conduct, Values, and Ethics.

SPECIFIC EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
  • Three years of experience as a manager or director in human services field
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass background checks, physical, TB

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Temperature in the workplace is typically moderate, though the ability to withstand seasonal cold and heat of the outdoors is necessary
