The Pennsylvania Military Museum is a dynamic historic site dedicated to interpreting the service and sacrifice of Pennsylvania’s servicemen and women. As the home of the 28th Infantry Division shrine and monuments, the museum hosts static displays, living history demonstrations, and a wide range of historic and community events. This position supports the museum’s educational mission by developing and delivering programs grounded in solid historical research and informed by current teaching practices. As a Museum Educator 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Program Development: Design educational and interpretive programs based on primary and secondary historical sources
- Program Delivery: Present engaging learning experiences that align with museum teaching methods and curriculum standards
- Volunteer Oversight: Train, evaluate, and guide volunteers who support museum operations
- Visitor Services: Coordinate visitor center activities and assist diverse groups with sensitivity and professionalism
- Public Engagement: Interact with military units, veterans, education groups, and families while presenting complex and emotional histories

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Some evenings, weekends, and holiday work for meetings and special events will be required.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) on an ad-hoc basis only and subject to approval. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Boalsburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Museum Educator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which would afford the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of a valid driver’s license, which is not under suspension.
- This particular position also requires at least 6 months of experience in EACH of the following (experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility at a museum, historic site, battlefield, park, or landmark with the mission of preserving and interpreting history):
- Being personally responsible for all aspects of managing, directing, and evaluating interpretive programming that utilizes historic weapons demonstrations. Personal responsibility includes firing historic weapons in the delivery of an educational/interpretive program.
- Developing, promoting, organizing, and presenting public history programs about U.S. military history in both in-person and virtual settings.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
