Role Summary
This position involves designing control system enclosures for automation projects, primarily focusing on panel layout, junction box design, and I/O schematics. The role requires a seasoned engineer with extensive experience in control system hardware and enclosure design, supporting a 6-month assignment with potential for ongoing collaboration. It offers an opportunity to contribute to critical automation infrastructure, working closely with project teams in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and layout of control system enclosures, including PLC control panels and I/O modules, adhering to project specifications.
- Create junction box designs for wire marshalling and local instrument connections to ensure efficient wiring and maintenance access.
- Develop detailed I/O schematics and cable schedules to support wiring and integration processes.
- Collaborate with project teams to review design requirements and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Assist in compiling design documentation and schematics for review and approval.
- Support project planning by providing technical input on enclosure and wiring designs.
- Maintain version control of design documents and update drawings as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in design review meetings and provide technical expertise related to control system enclosures.
- Ensure that all designs meet industry standards and are suitable for manufacturing and assembly.
- Support the project team in planning for programming activities scheduled for fall 2027, although programming experience is not required for this role.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in control system enclosure design and wiring schematics.
- Extensive experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix series PLCs and Flex 5000 I/O modules.
- Proven expertise in junction box and control panel layout and wiring documentation.
- Strong knowledge of I/O schematics, cable schedules, and wiring practices.
- Ability to interpret and develop technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Experience working on automation or control systems projects in a similar industrial setting.
- Availability to start and commit to a 6-month assignment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Publishing Pay Range: $60.00 - $67.00 hourly
This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
