Transportation Planning Manager

This position oversees technical staff and major Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) activities that support transportation planning and engineering. It ensures that spatial data is created, maintained, and shared to help guide statewide decisions. As a Transportation Planning Manager, you will perform the following duties:

• GIS Oversight: Guide the creation, maintenance, and analysis of spatial data for planning and engineering
• Staff Management: Direct specialists and coach team members to use the best available data
• Software Utilization: Manage the use of geographic information system software tools to produce maps, graphics, and spatial products
• Coordination Efforts: Work with internal and external groups to support GIS distribution, training, and communication
• Data Integration: Evaluate and integrate external spatial data sets to improve cartographic and geospatial functions
• Strategic Support: Assist leaders with implementing division initiatives and improving GIS operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Transportation Planning Specialist Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• One year of experience as a Transportation Planning Specialist 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Three years of professional transportation planning, transportation administration, or transportation engineering experience, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

• This particular position also requires a minimum of one year of experience in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).
